Managing Broker Harvey Olsan has called Orcas Island home since the late 1980s, when he and his wife came for a visit and never looked back. They were drawn to the island’s natural beauty and uniquely relaxing way of life, which makes him an ideal ambassador for others who feel the Orcas pull. He considers this the best of all worlds; a place where a person can pull crab pots, hike a trail and get a lot of work done – all in a single day, all in a glorious setting, and all while wearing Levis.
Harvey transitioned from the world of retail, where he honed the strategic marketing and sales skills that have distinguished his real estate career. He was the first island Realtor® to launch his own website and has received numerous industry recognitions for excellence and productivity. Harvey is perhaps best known for introducing the Two Lane Road Team concept to the local real estate community.
Harvey always tells newcomers that life on Orcas is like living on a two-lane road. The pace is slower, the path is lined with trees, and people stop to say hello. So he formed a team of professionals who follow these principles in order to meet the varying needs of buyers and sellers. Harvey insists that everyone who interacts with clients, from the Realtor to the excavator to the escrow officer, is a member of the team. And each has a responsibility to smooth the road for buyers and sellers. The approach has proven successful, as members of the Two Lane Road Team consistently rank among the island’s top producers.
Orcas Island has benefited from Harvey’s commitment to community. He served for 17 years as fire commissioner, was instrumental in raising funds to bring 24-hour medical care to the island, and has been active in the local Job Shadows student program. After nearly a quarter-century here, Harvey and his wife, Liane, continue to explore the island looking for new opportunities to hike, bike and discover.
Victoria Shaner:
Broker Victoria Shaner has called Orcas Island home since 2002 and has been an enthusiastic member of the local real estate community since 2007. Clients notice Victoria’s passion for her work, which allows her to share her love of Orcas with long-time residents and newcomers alike.
Victoria is committed to expanding her professional knowledge by paying close attention to detail at every step of each transaction. She is quick to give credit to the talented individuals from whom she has learned the craft of real estate. A trusted leader of the Two Lane Road team, Victoria is known by her clients as an attentive listener and an effective negotiator. She and Harvey Olsan approach all decisions jointly, combining their distinct skill sets for the ultimate benefit of their clients. Victoria believes that in real estate strategy, like in life, two are better than one.
The business comes naturally to Victoria. Her mother, a Tennessee Realtor®, taught her the fundamentals of the business: integrity, focus and an unwavering dedication to service. Victoria is just as proud of the professional lessons she learned from her mom as she is of her slight southern accent.
Prior to starting her real estate career, Victoria worked for several years in local banking on Orcas. In this capacity, she grew her knowledge of the island and honed her analytical skills. Victoria came to the Northwest by way of California, where she served as a live-in nanny. She finds the challenges of her current job far less grueling and a lot less messy.
Victoria is an active volunteer. She chairs the Orcas Association of Realtors committee that seeks opportunities for real estate professionals to give back to the community. In addition, she donates her time to Heart and Hands, an assistance program sponsored by the Orcas Island Senior Center.
Victoria and her island native husband, Bathan, never tire of exploring the many corners of Orcas with their border collie, Annie.
